Strengthening ties with Kuwait. A business delegation comprising representatives from Hong Kong and Mainland enterprises, led by HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee, arrived in Kuwait yesterday (May 13), on the second leg of their Middle East trip. Mr Lee met with the Amir of Kuwait, Mr Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah; the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Mr Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah; and the Acting Prime Minister, Mr Fahad Yousuf Saud Al-Sabah, to exchange views on strengthening co-operation between Hong Kong and Kuwait. Mr Lee and the Acting Prime Minister witnessed the signing of Memoranda of Understanding by Invest Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council with the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority respectively. Mr Lee also raised the prospect of signing a free trade agreement between Hong Kong and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries with support from Kuwait in its role as GCC chair in 2025. This is the first time for Mr Lee to lead Mainland enterprises on an outbound mission, demonstrating Hong Kong's strengths under the "one country, two systems" principle in connecting China and the world.

行政長官李家超（5月13日）率領來自香港加內地企業商貿代表團展開科威特的訪問行程。李家超與科威特埃米爾（國家元首）Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah、王儲Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah和署理首相Fahad Yousuf Saud Al-Sabah會面，就加強香港和科威特的合作交流意見。李家超與署理首相見證香港投資推廣署和香港貿易發展局分別與科威特直接投資促進局簽署合作備忘錄。李家超提出香港希望和海合會國家簽署自由貿易協定，期望科威特作為海合會2025年輪值主席國，支持和協助促成相關談判。這次商貿代表團，行政長官更首次帶領內地企業參加，目的是發揮好香港在「一國兩制」下內聯外通的優勢，通過深化國際交往合作，體現香港「超級聯繫人」和「超級增值人」的角色，做好企業「引進來、走出去」的橋樑作用。
